Oxford and the Cotswolds

It's been a while again...

We visited oxford a long time ago but went around again recently and saw some of the countryside and Cotswolds wildlife park which was really good, so I thought it's time to put some of these online.

It's a nice area and there is a lot of history in Oxford. Very interesting.

Lot's of walking tours to get you around the university buildings and tell you about them.
We got an official tour from the tourist office (there is lot's of "free" tours available but not too convinced about the quality). Our tour guide was amazing character, from Germany originally but worked in the university for a about a hundred years, I think.

Next visit was to see Becky's aunty in Burford which is a tiny village in Oxforshire.
It's so quiet and feel like million miles away from busy London.
Nice walks along the fields and the river valley.
We visited Cotswold wildlife park (http://www.cotswoldwildlifepark.co.uk) which is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Lot better than some of the bigger zoos.
There is not an overload of animals and you feel like the animals have much more space to roam and are well looked after and happier.

Black and white

Got inspired from some black and white photos I saw over the weekend.

This guy is selling his photos at Clapham Junction markets saturdays.
Very impressive photos and look amazing all printed big and framed.
Have a look: http://www.neilwilliams.co.uk
and if you are in clapham go and see them, they look so much better printed.

Always forget that there is so much impressive stuff just around the corner.
Been thinking about the battersea power station for a while, finally today got some time to go around it.
Also had a new filter (circular polarizer) to play with but the light wasn't quite right to get anything out of it.

Not a big fan of post production and doing too much to the photos afterwards and try to keep them natural, but thought I give these a bit more dramatic look.

Tell me what you think...

Cornwall

Expedition Cornwall:

Waterproof jacket – check, shorts – check, alcohol and munchies – check, welly-boots –check,
eccentric, but endearing in-laws – check!

We arrived in St Just, our base for the family holiday in Cornwall. St Just is a cute little coastal
village near Lands End.

Plenty of things to do around here, nice coastal walks, surfing (if your brave enough for British
water temperatures), beautiful scenery, relaxing and eating especially local specialties like
Cornish pasties and cream teas. Yum.

We visited Eden Project, which is amazing garden paradise with biomes exhibiting tropical
and Mediterranean climates.
Perfect for anyone who is currently experiencing the British summer!

St Michael's mount is situated in a stunning location, a medieval castle set on an outcrop of rock
surrounded by the sea on all sides.  Only accessible by boat or wading through the water at low
tide which just adds to the mystery and appeal of the place.

Something definitely worth visiting is the magnificent Minack theatre carved out of the rocks
by one woman and her two gardeners.
As you can see from the photos it’s literally a theatre on a cliff edge that has survived through
one world war and countless storms thanks to a very dedicated, inspirational lady.
Creates a beautiful backdrop for plays that still go on almost every evening regardless of what
the weather is like.

There is lot more to explore around here, Will definitely have to come back at some point.

Travel photographer of the year exhibition

Hello,

Had a look at a travel photographer of the year exhibition over the weekend.
Definitely worth seeing if you are around. It's in Kensington until mid August.

Flicking through the pages of the new book Journey four, I was very pleasantly surprised when I found my own images there from last year.
How cool is that!

Holland, Easter weekend.

Hi all!

It's been ages since my last update.
Been having troubles with computers. My much loved laptop died suddenly and it took a while to get something to replace it. Luckily didn't lose any of my files. Got myself an iMac instead of laptop. I'm loving this, I have to say. It's so fast and the big screen is amazing.

We have done couple of quick trips to Europe.
First was Holland, was great to catch up with friends and have a really relaxing long weekend.

Our hosts Nat and Jordi spoiled us with food and drinks and it was so nice to stay with them. They have  a beautiful house.

Didn't get that many photos as it was more just catching up and relaxing than going crazy with sightseeing. Maybe next time we will see a bit more, definitely going back.

Wales part II

Back again...
Got some more pictures from gorgeous wales.
Couple pictures from slate museum, which was surprisingly interesting.
Nice thing to do on a rainy day.
It feels so long ago already. I think it's time for another weekend away soon.
